Bobbins do matter.
One of the hardest subjects to talk about is using the correct bobbins, as each manufacture has its own unique bobbin for a given model. Some manufactures bobbins are interchangeable but most are not. To try and keep this simple and help you enjoy your sewing experience, use either metal of plastic bobbins but “don’t use both” as metal bobbins will have more drag than the plastic causing different tension results. Even when the bobbin fits in the bobbin case, the diameter and height of the bobbin may not be correct and could cause the incorrect bobbin to bind and even wedge into the bobbin case causing broken thread, poor quality stitches, and excess noise. Most manufactures have a magnet under the actual bobbin case which helps hold the case in place, so remember all bobbins are not the same!
