Project Linus

Project Linus is a wonderful organization that provides blankets for children in need. This project was started in 1995 by Karen Loucks, and since then 9,000,000 blankets have been provided to children in need.

Within Sheboygan County, blankets have been donated to locations such as Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, Safe Harbor, Red Cross, and many more. Project Linus has a large need for blankets and they would love your help.

What are blanket requirements?

  • Must be made from New, Clean, and Washable Materials in infant, child, or teen friendly colors.
  • Minimum size of 36” x 40”
  •  Crochet, Knit, quilt, or tie blankets are accepted
  • Single layer fleece blankets with a neatly finished edge are accepted. (Single layer is preferred over double)
  • Be sure to remove selvage (rolled) edge of fleece before making your blanket
  • Blankets should be made from 100% cotton fabric, flannel, polar fleece or 100% Acrylic Yarn
  • Please carefully check blankets for pins or needles
  • Please do not use tapestry, burlap, upholstery fabric, double knit, felt, vinyl, wool or wool yarn.
  • Materials must be order free (like dust and mildew) and pet hair is not allowed. (For allergy reasons.)

If you drop off a blanket at our store, or the three other locations in Sheboygan, please feel free to include your name and address.

Would you like to contribute but do not feel you are able to make blankets? Blanketeers need supplies and donating a gift card for a store that sells yarn and fabric might work for you. Donations can be sent to…

  1. Thank you for plugging Project Linus. Since my stash has grown way beyond my life expectancy, l include a yard or two of new fabric when turning in a quilt rather than having it go to waste.
