Is your machine skipping stitches? There are many reason that would cause this problem to occur. Before you bring your machine in, there are a few things you can try to fix this issue. First, check or replace your needle. If your needle is bent, even slightly, this can cause your machine to skip. If this does not help, check your needle plate. If the needle plate has metal burrs (which you may be able to file off) or is broken this can also be a reason for skipped stitches. Lastly, you’ve changed your needle and checked your plate, check that your spool of thread can flow smoothly and is not being caught on the spool cap or spool pin. If none of these remedies work, there is a good chance your machine needs a clearance or timing adjustment.
